Your role
As an IT System Engineer / System Administrator, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the complete IT stack that powers our autonomous (underwater) vehicles and the associated software.
You will act as the bridge between software development, hardware integration, and infrastructure, contributing to large-scale, technically complex projects for maritime and other customers. You will be based in Ostend and be willing to travel occasionally to customer sites.
Your responsibilities
Deployment & Updates
Deploy and test our proprietary software on new platforms and update existing installations with new features and software releases.
Verify hardware and software compatibility.
Automate deployment and testing processes whenever appropriate.
Testing & Validation
Serve as the primary point of contact during the final validation stages of software releases.
Provide clear and structured feedback to the software development teams on software quality, with a strong focus on reliability and security.
Infrastructure Maintenance
Together with our support team, maintain our internal infrastructure, including servers, networks, and the communication stack.
Marine Support
When required, support our service team by analyzing and resolving technical issues, as well as implementing solutions and new features.
Your profile
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, with relevant professional experience.
Fluent in Dutch and either French or English.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex IT challenges and independently develop sustainable solutions.
Excellent communication skills, enabling you to collaborate effectively with both end users and technical teams and communicate information clearly.
Self-driven and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
Passionate about IT and eager to learn, with a genuine interest in new technologies and continuous professional development.
You have an interest in
Complex IT environments with multiple interfaces, databases, and live connections.
Agile methodologies and CI/CD principles.
Windows (primary platform) and Linux.
Virtualization and containerization technologies (VMware, Docker/Podman).
Scripting (PowerShell, Bash).
Networking (Layer 2/Layer 3).
Automation tools such as Ansible or Jenkins.
